It felt like the right thing to do
I bought a nice looking suit
Just for the sake of it
Cheap from a thrift store
It was like a new opportunity
A new outlook
I walked down walker street
In the late afternoon sun
Cold drink in hand
Oh yeah you know the one
Everyone here is like something from an old time movie
And I'm a walking cliche
In an old suit
And I don't know why
I don't know the right thing to do
But it felt like
The right thing to do

Open Up

Overpowered by my own uncertainty
Unable to wake up
And bust a move
Always in a mental state
But always in a mental state of flux
Sometimes you can get more done
Drinking coke on the front porch
Than twelve thousand clerks
In a high rise
Or twelve horses
Working hard for the man
Open up
Like a can of coke
Like a house with the windows smashed out

Gum Wrappers

|

Watching the fire burn
Laughing in spite of it
Leaning in towards it for warmth
Like a home
Afraid because it's a wild animal
An untamed beast
It can turn at any time
Nervous because it's out of control
This is why it's so special
This is why two dollars in the hand
No plan and a pocket full of gum wrappers
Couldn't feel any better

I can see a light
I don't know where
I can see a light somewhere out there
I stand and stare
Observer from afar
Can you hear the club?
Can you feel the club bounce?
Neither can I
Well neither can I
Outside of the circuit
Well clear of the ring
No sign of Gucci here
I watch the sea from the trees
I can see a light
Free
Observer from afar

River St

It's a pretty good life out here
Barbara says out loud while sipping on Gin
And putting on make-up for no one else but herself
Oppression urges one to think
Makes em strong where others are weak
To be on top can make you cold inside
It kills the soul and makes a meal of the mind
She had to get away from Texas Jim and his big head
Out here now smoking Winfields on the porch
Watching birds make nests
And the light slowly fade down the street
River street is home to the unsettled, unnerved and the unusual
They come and go like leaves on the trees
Either floating or falling

Silverleaf Pl

Making our way through a box of warm pre mix
Bill Dwyer, Jim and me
All in my Ute down Silverleaf place
Parked up near the old tennis courts
Where you can see nothing for miles
It's 6pm and there's a stillness in the air
The kind that makes you feel like
Nothing will ever change
The radios bust but no one speaks
And off in the valley a dog barks
I'm pretty sure the company I keep doesn't know what to think
Or what to believe
And I know that's why I'm here too
Somewhere near here there were once screams from a house
The cops didn't come
They stay away from Silverleaf place

You lost your way at the Hunter road motorcross
Walking in the rain again
Now you gotta find a way back
You lost the ring that I gave you
At the Hunter road crown club
Now I gotta find a way
Back to you
I lost the heart that I thought I had
As I slipped into the sea again
Up to about my neck in it
Now I gotta find a way
Back to you
I found a reason to keep on track
I found a reason to keep afloat
It was you

Reality Loop
03:03
|
|||
Playing pool with Frank at the bar
It's like a temporary escape
From the world that we know
A world outside where actions are met with consequence
And choice reigns supreme
In order to escape the pressure
One can do nothing
And just play pool
But is this a reality loop?
Like in groundhog day
Maybe I should learn to sculpt ice
Or work harder at work
Am I happy? Or am I on the run?
These questions circle my thoughts
And swim through my mind
As Frank lays down another dollar for pool
These questions circle my thoughts
And you swim through my mind
As Frank lays down another dollar for pool
