i cleaned someones house today for work
there had been a fire and everything was covered in soot and smoke
the homeowner; this woman pushing 60, was quite pretty in a haggard sort of way
she was drinking vodka from a glass at 10am, and had explained to me the fire and the whole chain of events by 10:05
the husband had cheated on her with the next door neighbour
and in an act of drunken confused sabotage, she tried to burn her own house down
a week later the husband died of a cardiac arrest
she worked cpr on him for 30 minutes, but knew the whole time, he was dead
she offered me a drink after spilling her guts on the story
i refused and told her; it was my first day of work and couldn't afford to lose the job
a little while later, she offered me what she called 'her services'
it was my first and last day of fire work
